Bringing the lessons of a lifetime of music-making to the next generation of performers.
I studied singing and piano, joint first studies, initially at the Royal Welsh College of Music and then at the Royal Academy of Music, graduating with honours and also winning the Elsie Owen and Lady Maud Warrender prizes. I have since enjoyed a successful and varied career as a professional singer and music teacher. My own singing engagements have included ensemble, consort and oratorio solo work, and many recordings.
I believe the breadth of musical experiences I’ve had inspires my teaching, allowing me to take individual pupils to the next level – whatever they might want that to be. I work with adults and children (I have enhanced CRB status), studying both singing and piano.
In 2006 I qualified as an examiner for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), examining all instruments at Grades 1 to 8, and jazz exams. I was promoted to examine at diploma and fellowship level in 2011. As well as working across the UK, my examining has so far taken me to Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and New Zealand.
By combining my passion and commitment to music with these skills, as performer, teacher and examiner, I can now offer a varied range of advice as a music consultant. I am based in London and Somerset but, as you can see, I am very happy to travel!
